Plex Media Server

If you're looking for a great way to organize your movie collection with poster art and meta data, then check out Plex Media Server. Plex is the best media center app for the Roku (IMO) that gives you more control over your movie watching experience. You can select which audio track you want to play as well as turn subtitles on or off, you can even choose to display them in a few different colors. Plex allows you to serve video to any Roku or supported device in your house or on the other side of the world from your server or the cloud. Plex will even sync your movies to your phones and tablets for viewing on the go. If you are looking for a nice media server solution for the Roku and your other devices (iOS, Android, Windows,) I recommend you give Plex a try. My 480p, 720p and 1080p encoding settings work great with the Direct Play setting on Plex, which means there is a lot less strain on your server. I switched to Plex and serve video to two Roku's, an iPad, Galaxy Tab Pro and a Nook HD (cyanogen mod) all at the same time without any issues. The sync feature is great for uploading video to my tablets and phones, saving me the trouble of converting video for each device. The media server software and the Roku channel are both free at this time, all you need to do is supply the PC to serve your media. Nice work Plex team. Click here to learn more about Plex.
